The Walk

You'll probably notice my current emphasis...

I have written two songs that specifically speak to current issues within the church.  The things they talk about are not just something I came up with on a whim.  In fact, the first was written in 1996, and the most recent in 1987.  I wasn't in a hurry to release them, and I don't have "an axe to grind"- I waited until I felt it was God's time for this message, and that's why I'm speaking about these things now.  Both songs (and posts that are connected with them) can be found to the right.

Authors I like

God  Yes, the bible!  After coming to Jesus I read through the bible twice in a matter of months before I ever stepped foot in a church.  I knew what I believed before people told me what to believe!  I learned it from the bible.  It's "God breathed".  You, the bible, and the Holy Spirit... it doesn't get better than that if you're looking for spiritual truth.  Understanding what God's Word has to say, gives you the framework to properly discern the truth about everything everyone else says!

Leonard Ravenhill   Many good books on revival.  I've always been blessed by Ravenhill and one Christmas my wife gave me, I think, four more of his books.  What a great present!

Martyn Lloyd Jones   An excellent book on revival entitled "Revival" and another called "Joy Unspeakable" on the Holy Spirit.  A relatively unknown book of his is one of my favorites, "Spiritual Depression".

JI Packer  "Knowing God" and "Keep in step with the Spirit" are a couple of my favorites.  I'll never forget sitting in a park in Miramar Florida reading Packers book, "Knowing God" . I was reading the chapter on propitiation.  It was as if a light from heaven fell on me as this gospel truth flooded my heart!

C.H. Spurgeon  Too many to list!  Excellent writings covering every aspect of the Christian life.  God used a sermon of Spurgeon's that I downloaded online to help me through the entire time after my Mom was diagnosed with cancer until she went to be with the Lord!  Very Christ centered. Wonderful nuggets of truth are found in his writings.

Watchman Nee  "Changed into His likeness", "Love not the world". "The Normal Christian Life."

A W Tozer   Many excellent writings and books that will challenge you to walk the walk, and not just talk!

G. Campbell Morgan  I'm presently reading "The teaching of Christ" and have 4 more books of his on order.  All I can say is "Wow!"  I'm just finishing a book of his on the 7 churches of Revelation and personally found it heart searching.

Andrew Murray  I found most of his books scouring used bookstores as many are out of print now.  I have a tattered paperback of "The blood of the Cross" which I purchased about 20 years ago.  He stands among the Christians authors who preach about "the blood" and the core truths of our faith without watering the message down.  He also has many good books on prayer.

Arthur Wallis  God's Chosen Fast.  I pull out Arthur Wallis' book on fasting most every time I feel God leading me to fast.  It's a great balanced book on fasting!  I've also been reading his book, "In the day of Thy power", an excellent book on revival.
